About Retirement Home
Isomer Retirement Home is a low care hostel, situated in the Dandenong foothills. We offer a tranquil lifestyle, while in close proximity to shops, banks, places of worship and other facilities. The hostel has been established by the local Muslim community (the Islamic Society of Melbourne Eastern Region ) specifically for the purpose of caring for the needs of the ageing from all ethnic groups, recognising the rights and dignity of each person, irrespective of colour, race or religion.In Our Home
Each resident enjoys a personal spacious room with en-suite facilites, Some live in self contained suites.In addition to the privacy, residents may relax in small, intimate sitting rooms, in the sunny courtyard, or in one of the larger lounge rooms.
We have a lot of hobby activity oppurtunities for men and women and indoor and outdoor walking areas.
The Philosophy and Objectives of the Isomer Retirement Home:Isomer Retirement Home has been established by the local Muslim community (the Islamic Society of Melbourne Eastern Region) for the purpose of caring for ageing Muslims who believe that there is nothing worthy of worship except the one God (Allah), and that Allah’s instructions given through the Holy Qura’n include-
(a) Showing kindness and compassion to the elderly,
(b) Being tolerant of other systems of belief and respecting the beliefs and customs of others
(c) Encouraging an environment in which harmony and peace are fostered.Introduction & History of Isomer Retirement Home
Isomer (the Islamic Society of Melbourne Eastern Region) owns the Aged Care Facility known as Isomer Retirement Home (IRH) with its head office at: 1273 Wellington Road, Lysterfield. 3156
The facility (IRH) is an accredited facility and it is fully funded by the Commonwealth Government.
Isomer Retirement Home is established to serve the Muslim Community. However, we welcome any eligible fellow citizen in need of care.Isomer embraces the multi-cultural philosophy and demonstrates it in it’s practice. At the moment Isomer Retirement Home is a 50 bed low care facility.
ISOMER SGM in 21st Of December 2003 resolved that the exiting IRH sub committee will be appointed as a Board of directors for IRH for a term of 3 years. The aim of the board is to continue the improvement on the quality of care delivered to all residents. This will be attained by utilising the available resources.
The Board :
According to ISOMER SGM 21st Of December 2003 resolution that the exiting IRH sub committee will be appointed as a Board of directors for IRH for a term of 3 years to ensure the existing stability/smooth running of the operation; the four members of the existing Hostel Sub Committee with the President of each new committee of management or his representative will forms the board of directors.
In the fourth year one member of original board members (not the current President of ISOMER Committee of Management ) is to resign and to be replaced by a new member proposed by the existing Isomer Committee of Management at the time, who is to remain on the board for the term of 3 years.
The member to resign is selected by a “Draw of the Hat”; names placed in the “hat” are those members who have been on the board for three (3) years.
This process is repeated until the time where by default there will only be 1 member of the original Sub committee in the Board who will automatically resign eliminating the need for names to be drawn.Board members are selected for their capacity to contribute to the well being of the Home, for their expertise and experience in Aged Care and business Management.
The membership of the Board is an obligation to serve the community and to ensure compliance with all relevant Acts governing Aged Care, Being a Board Member is hard work and the only reward to be expected is the satisfaction of contributing to the community and the blessing of ALLAH.
Like any organisation, IRH has an administrative structure and problem solving model. Both are strictly adhered to in all matters related to IRH and in its relationship with all external Agencies.
